Rotajet manufacture a range of spray washers that are used for removing bulk contaminants from large parts such as bogies. The heavy amounts of oils, grease, dirt and other contaminants that are built up on bogies during their operation must be removed prior to their inspection and reconditioning.
Our purpose-built spray washers allow for bogies to be run on their rails straight into the machine and, in one wash cycle, strip all contaminants away.

Locomotive power assembly components must be degreased and the carbon removed prior to maintenance and servicing. We are proud to offer a complete range of spray washers, parts washers and dunk washers perfect for use within the rail industry.
Typically, the components are washed as a full assembly in a Rotajet two-stage spray washing machine before they are dismantled. An alkaline degreasing powder is typically used in the wash section and then a corrosion inhibitor in the rinse section.
Once stripped, any ferrous components requiring carbon removal are then washed in a Rotajet dunker using Rotajet 2-240 a strong alkaline cleaner. For carbon removal from aluminium components, 1-512 carbon remove is used; this is a non-alkaline cleaning detergent developed by Rotajet and used in our dunking and degreasing machines.

Rotajet spray washing and degreasing machines will accommodate any locomotive power assembly and are typically used as a two-stage wash and rinse machine.
Rotajet spray washing machines and ultrasonic cleaning systems are used for the degreasing and cleaning of large electric motors, wheelsets, bogies, brake callipers and brake systems, bearings and many more items prior to inspection and repair. Components are typically washed and degreased prior to stripping; normally this initial wash is performed in a large Rotajet parts washer. The initial clean removes grease, oil and road dirt and make the units cleaner and easier to strip down. The stripped components are then washed again in a Rotajet spray washing machine using a non-alkaline detergent. For carbon removal from diesel engines, Rotajet recommend that a caustic solution is used in a Rotajet dunk washing machine. For aluminium components, Rotajet recommends cleaning and carbon removal in a Rotajet ultrasonic cleaning tank using a non-alkaline detergent.
